The plot of the latest ad is pretty much the same as the previous one. It shows Google’s services working seamlessly on Samsung’s products. The video begins with older brother Joey using Google’s Hum to Search feature to look up C+C Music Factory’s “Gonna Make You Sweat (Everybody Dance Now)” on YouTube (via). He starts grooving to the song and tries to get his siblings to join him. But with Matthew and Andrew not showing any interest, Joey takes to Google casting to send the song to a nearby Samsung TV. Andrew couldn’t resist anymore and joined his older brother. While Matthew wanted to leave the room, Joey sends him a message with the text “Dance Party?”. The message pops up on Matthew’s Galaxy Watch 4 and he didn’t have much choice either. Well, with the “Everybody Dance Now” refrain continuing on the TV, it’s hard for anyone to resist. Matthew then pulls up the newly added Google Assistant integration on his Galaxy Watch 4 and asks the Assistant to turn the party lights on. And the Lawrence brothers have an amazing family reunion. The previous Google-Samsung ad followed a ditto plot. It had TikToker Addison Rae using Hum to Search to look up the Backstreet Boys hit. The ad also showed YouTube and Google casting in action, as well as the Google Assistant on the Galaxy Watch 4.
Google and Samsung also have a website for this joint ad campaign
Along with making joint ads that feature an element of nostalgia, Google and Samsung have also launched a website where they try to show how they complement each other. The companies talk about Google Duo’s Live Sharing feature, which is currently only available for YouTube, Google Maps, Samsung Notes, and Samsung Gallery. It lets you co-watch YouTube or photos in the gallery together with your friends and family. This is just one of many Google services that are exclusive to Samsung products. Even Wear OS 3 remained exclusive to the Galaxy Watch 4 series for almost a year, until the Montblanc Summit 3 arrive last month. No existing Wear OS smartwatch has received the update yet. Google giving Samsung such a high priority for its services has raised a few eyebrows, but their partnership is deepening even further, it seems.
